If you've been following along here on my Blog (or Facebook page) for a while, chances are you'll already know about the childhood cancer campaign I ran back in September, for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which raised $400 for local pediatric cancer charity Friends of Scott Foundation, and granted one lucky childhood warrior and her family a full, customized photoshoot by yours truly!  (Click here to catch up or revisit that incredible session!)

As you may recall, in a super fun LIVE video I not only announced the grand prize winner, but also got to live out my own "Oprah fantasies" and let everyone know that they were ALL going to receive their own mini-sessions! They were ALL winners!!  This was thanks to my dear sweet friend Olguta of Oh My Goddard Photography...she came up with the idea for a mini-session event because EACH and EVERY child battling this dreadful disease deserves his/her time in the spotlight!

Our initial date actually got rained out, and we had some trouble finding a new date that worked for everyone so we ended up shooting the following 8 families over two separate dates in the last couple months.  When you look at each little warrior's face, it's impossible not to fall in love with their strength and grace, and sparkling little eyes. These kids ALL have had to endure unimaginable pain (and their parents/families unspeakable heartache) on the roller coasters that have been their journeys.  Some of these kids have finished their treatment and are are enjoying their lives cancer-free, in a new post-cancer "normal", while others are in the thick of it right now, and still others are in "maintenance mode"; enduring nightly chemo pills, crazy steroids, and monthly hospital stays while counting down the hundreds of days until they can (hopefully) put this all behind them. But they all have one thing in common - these kids are true heroes.   Olguta and I were stunned at how mature, well mannered, and full of joy and love each of these little warriors is! And grateful - amidst it all they find so many things to be grateful for!  Like each and every moment they have together.  Olguta and I are both so incredibly honored to have been able to capture these special memories for these guys....

Bless your heart, these photos are beautiful! What a wonderful gift you've given these families. I had to watch my poor husband fight cancer. I'm not sure I could hold myself together knowing how much those little souls have had to go through.
